The UBC Okanagan Library is excited to start the new school year with new Scholarly Communication Librarian Lori Walter.
Walter is a graduate from the University of Alberta with a Master of Library and Information Studies. For the past two years, she worked as a librarian assistant in the Faculty of Nursing Research Office at the University of Alberta. She is also the outgoing Managing Editor of the International Journal of Qualitative Methods.
Walter has also worked part-time at Grant MacEwan University’s reference desk and as a librarian assistant at the Edmonton Public Library where she coordinated the Stanley A. Milner Library art gallery and Cinema at the Centre program.
Walter has a BA and MA from the University of Victoria and taught writing courses at the State University of New York at Buffalo prior to embarking on her librarian career path.
Walter brings her passion for and experience with supporting faculty and student research and writing to her new position. Walter will be responsible for oversight of the Library’s Centre for Scholarly Communication as well as the Writing and Research Centre. She will also provide campus support for copyright and UBC’s institutional repository cIRcle.
