When 18-year-old Michael Brown was fatally shot by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri last August, it sparked weeks of outrage, riots, and unrest across America. Brown was a young black man, the police officer Caucasian, in a suburban town with a mostly white police force. The unarmed youth was shot six times. It’s a racially-charged scenario that Americans have witnessed repeatedly.
