A new on-campus community is under development to help the brightest new UBC Okanagan scholars shine even brighter when they arrive in September.
This fall, the Society of Scholars will welcome its inaugural cohort. It will feature a group of selected donor-funded and UBC Okanagan scholarship recipients, each of whom has demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership and community involvement before coming to UBC.
This program — facilitated in partnership between the AVP Students portfolio, Development and Alumni Engagement and Enrolment Services — will support approximately 60 international and domestic new-to-UBC scholars. Participating scholars will have the opportunity to engage with each other, mentors, community members, alumni and a number of campus partners.
Scholars will also be given the opportunity to participate in peer mentorship groups, workshops and presentations, events and activities, leadership conferences and informal gatherings. The program will be kicked-off with a leadership retreat in September co-facilitated by alumna and Loran Scholar Jenna Gall (BSC ’14) at Silver Lake Camp in Peachland.
