The Global Spectrum is a new, student-driven, student-edited and student-published blog that links UBC’s Okanagan campus and the world. It is looking for members of the campus community who would like to help shape this student-oriented project.
The Global Spectrum is looking for blog submissions from individual students, or professors who would like to support the blog through class assignments. Students from all faculties are invited to submit posts for any of the following categories:
- Campus Corner
Expression of student ideas, reflections and concerns about events/issues/topics from around the world - Canada Across the Map
Coverage of Canada’s political, athletic and cultural involvement in the world - Your Voice
Creative student work, including art, poetry, photography, videos, music, recipes or dance - Events
Promotion and reviews of UBCO and community events that are focused on (inter)cultural engagement
Three student bloggers are currently working on providing direction and management to The Global Spectrum, each of them bringing their own backgrounds and interests to the project.
- Blog originator Maisha Badhon is excited to see her long-time dream become a reality, bringing international affairs into the discussions of the student community.
- Nene Azu hopes that his interest in poetry and intercultural communication will help shape a blog that allows diverse students to learn from each other.
- Having grown up in Germany and Canada, blogger Stella Mozin hopes The Global Spectrum will help remove the barriers between international and domestic students.
All three are helping to promote inter-culturalism through a creative, student-oriented lens, and are looking to share the tremendously diverse experiences of UBC Okanagan students through The Global Spectrum.
