UBC Okanagan continues to show its commitment to the environment year after year.
Despite continued campus growth, UBC Okanagan achieved a 17 per cent reduction in absolute carbon emissions in 2015. This reduced the campus’ carbon offset liability by almost $14,000 and carbon emissions by 524 tCO2e, the equivalency of 111 passenger vehicles driven for one year.
These improvements are attributed to a strategic focus on emissions and energy efficiencies in campus buildings, as well as programs that focus on water and waste reduction.
