On Monday, October 31, The Okanagan Charter for Health Promoting Universities was signed by UBC and marks a commitment to embed a health and sustainability lens to all aspects of campus life. This action signals an important opportunity for UBC Okanagan to continue to provide global and national leadership in the field of healthy campus research and action, and to open up new ways of thinking about what really improves the health of people and place.
The Golden Apple Award is being launched for faculty members and instructors who go the extra mile in creating classrooms that promote and sustain the health of students. The nomination page launched this week and will close on November 25, 2016.
This initiative has been coordinated by fourth-year nursing students Blair Haskins, Stephanie Frass, Virpal Gill and Kajal Dhaliwal and supported by the VOICE Campus Health project coordinators. Awards will be given out at the VOICE Forum on November 30 in Fipke foyer at 12 noon.
After this event VOICE project coordinators will be developing a resources toolkit that will help faculty members and instructors to help create spaces that help students and faculty thrive.
