UBC hosts candidate forum for upcoming election

March 31, 2017

What: All-candidates forum
Who: Provincial election candidates in Kelowna West, Kelowna-Lake Country and Kelowna-Mission ridings
When: Wednesday, April 5 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Where: Fipke Centre for Innovative Research, 3247 University Way, UBC Okanagan Campus

In an effort to generate student interest in provincial politics, a UBC professor is organizing an all-candidates forum well in advance of the May 9 provincial election.

Assist. Prof. Carey Doberstein, who teaches political science, is inviting candidates from all three central Okanagan ridings—Kelowna West, Kelowna-Lake Country and Kelowna-Mission— to a meet and greet on campus Wednesday. After a short social gathering, candidates have a chance to give a brief speech to the audience.

The event is an opportunity for candidates to meet with students, faculty and staff as well as to encourage students to vote and get involved in the election.

The public is welcome to attend this free event and paid parking is available on campus.
