University Relations welcomed a new associate director of public affairs for the Okanagan campus on Monday.

Nathan Skolski joins UBC from Ottawa where, for the past six years, he served as head of media and public affairs for the British diplomatic network in Canada, leading all communications activities for the British High Commission in Ottawa and its consulates in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

Skolski’s previous roles include press attaché for the French Embassy in Canada press service, project support officer for the National Research Council, and information officer for the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics. He holds a BSc in molecular biology from the University of Victoria.

As associate director of public affairs, Skolski will work with the entire UBC community to enhance the university’s reputation through proactive media relations and issues management, and strategic community engagement.
