Alumni Avenue closure extends northward

January 10, 2018

Alumni Avenue closure

January 10 to approximately January 18, 2018

To support campus development and future energy needs, excavation for new water lines is continuing along Alumni Avenue. Please be advised of the following changes to traffic patterns:

  • Alumni Avenue remains closed to through traffic with the exception of buses and service vehicles. Drivers and cyclists are advised to follow detour signage.
  • The south-bound lane of Alumni Avenue will be closed to all traffic. Single-lane traffic will be in effect along the north-bound lane, with priority given to buses.
  • The crosswalk leading to the north end of the EME building will be closed.
  • Drop-offs for bus routes 4 and 6 will take place in the Transit Exchange for the duration of the construction.

Fencing, signage, and flaggers will be in place to assist with directing pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

For your safety, please obey flaggers and signage and allow yourself extra time to account for these traffic changes.

Construction hours have been extended and will include some weekends to ensure that the project is completed as quickly as possible.

For a construction and detour map, please visit transportation.ok.ubc.ca.
