Office of the Ombudsperson for Students returns to UBC Okanagan

January 15, 2018

Ombuds Officer Michael Jud.

Ombuds Officer Michael Jud.

The Okanagan Ombuds Office is in the process of relaunching and is excited to welcome Michael Jud to Kelowna.

Jud — a recent graduate of the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC Vancouver — is the new Okanagan campus Ombuds Officer.

The Ombuds Officer works with UBC community members to ensure students are treated fairly and can learn, work and live in a fair, equitable and respectful environment. They act as a confidential resource for students who are navigating difficulties with some aspect of their university life and would like a chance to discuss their concerns with a person who will hear them out and offer objective advice.

Beyond supporting students, the Ombuds Officer is also a resource for faculty and staff who work with student policies or make decisions that directly affect students.

The Okanagan Ombuds Office was on hiatus since 2016. Being open again with a fulltime resource is great news for the campus community.

Anyone wishing to meet Jud and learn more about Ombuds Office can feel free to drop by at any time. He can be found in the University Centre building (UNC 217) and can be contacted at michael.jud@ubc.ca or 250-807-9818.
