June 7 and 8: Graduation traffic changes

June 1, 2018

Employees are encouraged to use transit or Parking Lots J, W and the north-end of H during Convocation

With the construction of Upper Campus Way — the new access to campus opening this fall — and the resulting closures of Parking Lots G and C, getting around campus during graduation will be different this year.

Graduate and guest parking will be directed to Lots F and H, with shuttle services available in both lots to help guests move from those locations to the gymnasium.

The temporary closure of Lots G and C also means traffic will intensify in all other available lots. All employees should think about arriving on campus earlier than they normally would on June 7 and 8.

Given the expected volume of guest traffic in Lots F and H during both days of graduation this year, all employees are encouraged to use BCTransit to get to campus those days if possible. If that’s not possible, employees are asked to prioritize Lots J, W (Mountain Weather Office) and the north-end of Lot H.

Shuttle services

A shuttle service for those with mobility issues will be located on University Way in front of Lot F. This service will use golf carts to move people to the front entrance of the gymnasium.

The shuttle service location in Lot H will use vans to move people to the front entrance of the gymnasium and is for anyone attending a graduation ceremony.
