UBC campus will permanently fly Okanagan Nation Alliance flag

Flag raising ceremony takes place Thursday afternoon

What: Okanagan Nation Alliance Flag Raising Ceremony
Who: Members of the Okanagan Nation Alliance, UBC dignitaries, students, faculty and staff
When: Thursday, September 27, from 4:30 to 5 p.m.
Where: Main Courtyard at the flagpoles, UBC Okanagan campus

UBC Okanagan will celebrate the official, permanent raising of the Okanagan Nation Alliance (ONA) flag Thursday afternoon.

The Okanagan campus is located in the ancestral and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation. The Okanagan Nation Alliance flag formally signifies UBC’s recognition of the Okanagan Nation in whose lands the university resides.

The flag raising will take place at 4:30 p.m. There will be a brief speaking program with UBC and ONA dignitaries. Refreshments will follow.
