Student Recruitment and Advising has been hosting UBC Welcomes You events in key cities across Canada during the month of April.

These events are a chance for admitted students to receive an early welcome to the University of British Columbia, and to meet representatives from a variety of faculties and departments.

UBC Welcomes You events took place in Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary. Attendance climbed at each city visited, with Calgary being the largest event ever for admitted UBC students.

At these events, students and their parents were presented with highlights about what makes UBC unique. They also were given information on how to accept their offer of admission and prepare for a move to either Kelowna or Vancouver.

Each event also featured a reception for scholarship recipients and a luncheon for Indigenous students.

Student Recruitment and Advising would like to send a bit thank you to all the faculty representatives who made the trip to support everyone who attended.

Specifically, thanks to Trudy Kavanaugh, Marianne Legault, Annalisa Barnett, Shauna Oddleifson, Marie Reid and Dr. Yang Cao for their part advising future Okanagan campus students. Also to Associate Vice-President, Students Ian Cull for taking the time to join the Indigenous luncheon in Toronto, and Dr. Richard Plunkett for speaking to a packed ballroom in Calgary. These events would not have been the same without you.

Student Recruiter-Advisors, Erica Triggs and Anthony Dodds, talk to a packed house at the UBC Welcomes You event in Toronto.
