The UBCO Gardening Club has taken nature walks, hosted faculty and community speakers, and helped plant gardens around campus. Now the club is coming out of hibernation for another season.
In 2017, members of the UBCO Gardening Club set out on a mission: to support birds, bees, and other pollinating species on campus. They teamed up with United Landscapes to plant a nectar trail—a series of gardens made up of Okanagan plants and flowers—along Discovery Ave. The nectar trail provides much-needed habitat for wild pollinators and encourages biodiversity on campus by allowing pollinators easily move from one place to another.
This month, the nectar trail will once again be abuzz with activity as Gardening Club members set out to enhance the trail by planting a new crop of plants—and anyone on campus can join in the fun.
If you’d like to participate in enhancing the UBCO nectar trail, you can join the Gardening Club at noon on May 24 for a chance to exercise your green thumb. Plants and tools will be provided. Participants will work in small groups and be supported by the expertise of landscape contractors from United Landscapes.

The UBCO Gardening Club typically meets once per month, with guest speakers throughout the summer and fall. Details of the remaining summer activities are still being finalized, but we are looking forward to another exciting season ahead.
