With nearly 200 students currently seeking employment for May, now is the time to post a summer student position
The Interdisciplinary Co-op Program includes undergraduate students from four faculties: Arts and Sciences, Creative and Critical, Health and Social Development, and Management.
Since its expansion in 2016, UBC Okanagan’s Interdisciplinary Co-op Program has seen 55 co-op work terms completed on campus.
With the largest cohort to date seeking employment for the summer, now is the time to post a position.
Top tips for campus partners interested in hiring a co-op student:
Start early
Post positions approximately three months in advance of a start date to have access to a larger candidate pool. Co-op students are available full-time for 4-, 8- or 12-month work terms beginning in May, September or January.
Have a project in mind
Hiring a co-op student can be a great way to kick-start a project or continue momentum during the summer months. A few examples of this from recent hires include:
- Assisting with the transition from Blackboard to Canvas
- Involvement in a wide variety of research initiatives
- Engaging the campus community through various communication and outreach strategies
- Participating in event planning and execution with events like UBC’s annual Homecoming
- Data analysis, policy and procedure review, planning and administrative tasks
Consider how a co-op student could add value to your team.
Access diverse skills
Co-op is an opportunity to support a student’s learning journey. Access talent from multiple disciplines and tap into diverse skill sets that co-op students offer.
The Interdisciplinary Co-op Program includes undergraduate students from four faculties: Arts and Sciences, Creative and Critical, Health and Social Development, and Management.
