You can say you were there when we finally solved the “man cold.”

At least, that’s among the possibilities at the Western Canadian Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition coming to UBC Okanagan this week.

You can learn about leading-edge research from across Canada as competitors from 17 universities face the challenge of presenting their research in three minutes using language everyone can understand.

Students exploring everything from honey bee viruses and “man colds” to knee degeneration compete in the regional event on Thursday from 2 to 5 pm in the UNC Ballroom at UBC Okanagan and online.

Organizers are encouraging the public to attend.

These talented master’s and doctoral students have a knack for making complex ideas accessible while engaging and inspiring the audience.

For the first time since 2016, UBCO will host the Western Canadian 3MT competition. The winner earns $1,500.

Victoria Femia from Global Okanagan is set to emcee the event. You can learn how to attend in person or stream online by visiting the event website. A reception is to follow the competition.
