Learners from around BC get hands-on experience in a field training session as part of UBCO’s Wetland Delineation and Assessment micro-credential.

BC residents can once again access up to $3,500 in tuition funding, as the province’s StrongerBC future skills grant returns to support short-term, career-focused training.

The grant can be applied to eight Continuing and Professional Education programs offered at UBC Okanagan. These programs cover high-demand areas such as health care, sustainability and wildfire management. They are delivered in flexible formats, including in-person, online and hybrid, to support working professionals.

“UBCO’s courses and programs provide flexible opportunities for British Columbians to expand their knowledge and skills to meet the shifting needs of today’s job market,” says Dr. Rehan Sadiq, Provost and Vice-President, Academic at UBC Okanagan.

UBC Okanagan grant-eligible options include:

  • Pathways to Sustainability: Circular Economy
  • Health Assessment for Primary Care Nursing
  • Wetland Delineation and Assessment
  • Fundamentals of Wildland Fire Ecology and Management
  • Foundations for a Restorative Approach: Health Care Harm and Well-being
  • Case Management and Care Coordination for Primary Care Nursing
  • Caring for Select Populations in Primary Care Nursing
  • Health Promotion & Prevention in Primary Care Nursing

Launched in 2023, the StrongerBC future skills grant has supported thousands of learners across the province. It’s available to most BC residents aged 19 and older, regardless of financial need.

“The continued support from the StrongerBC future skills grant program enables more British Columbians to access high-quality education opportunities while contributing to a more resilient British Columbia in the years to come,” adds Dr. Sadiq.

At UBCO, hundreds of learners have already benefited from the grant. With strong demand and a renewed provincial commitment, the university continues to support professionals looking to advance or pivot in their careers.
