Erin Menzies, learning services librarian
A passion for evidence-based medicine, patient education and creative health literacy initiatives drew Erin Menzies to her new role at UBC Okanagan.
The new Learning Services Librarian will be working with faculty and staff from the Southern Medical Program, as well as the biology and human kinetics programs.
Menzies joins the UBC’s Okanagan Library from the University Health Network in Toronto, where she worked as Consumer Health Information Specialist as part of an inter-professional patient education program. She’s an enthusiastic supporter of the innovation sector, and previously worked with Clinical Trials Ontario as research analyst, helping to scope and vision a province-wide harmonized IT solution for research ethics review.
Prior to this she held positions with the faculties of medicine at both the University of Toronto and the University of Manitoba.
Holding a MSc in information and library studies from Robert Gordon University and a BA (Hons) from the University of Toronto, her research interests are in the development and usability of medical e-resources for Aboriginal communities and disparate groups as well as the use of consumer-level resources to improve health outcomes in post-stroke patient populations.
