Members of the campus community have until March to apply to the Equity Enhancement Fund — a program established to help provide funding for new initiatives designed to enhance equity at UBC.
In 2009 and 2010 the fund provided a total of $10,500 to the following Okanagan campus initiatives:
- Department of Critical Studies: commemoration activities for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
- School of Engineering: funds were allocated to help increase recruitment and retention of Aboriginal students.
- Disability Resource Centre: building awareness of access and ability through the arts.
The Guidelines for the Fund can viewed on the Equity Enhancement Fund Guidelines website. The funding is available to any academic or administrative unit with the endorsement of the unit or department head.
