UBC Drinks Tap Water

By Julie Stachiw on October 31, 2019

UBC Drinks Tap Water

From November 14 to 29, UBC Wellbeing encourages students, staff and faculty to increase their consumption of tap water through a project called UBC Drinks Tap Water.

UBC Drinks Tap Water is a campaign led by the UBC Food and Nutrition Committee, which was formed to develop a collaborative framework to guide food and nutrition strategies on campus. This campaign fulfils one of the three primary actions of the UBC Healthy Beverage Initiative (HBI) to encourage the campus community to make healthier and more nutritious beverage choices, and promote drinking tap water.

Join UBC Wellbeing on November 14, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the Administration Building foyer for a free tap water bistro.

Why is it important?

Bottled beverages are packaged in single-use plastic and often loaded with sugar. They’re harmful to both the environment and health. Tap water is a safe, sustainable and healthful alternative available to most Canadians.
