Sustainable community development internal grant workshop

A workshop about the new Sustainable Community Development Internal Grant has been organized for the campus community on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

The workshop is focused on UBC faculty, staff and students, as well as staff from the City of Kelowna and members of the Glenmore community. Faculty members who plan to apply to the grant are encouraged to attend this workshop.

Up to four grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to successful applicants. The grant application deadline is February 15, 2011. To find out more about grant terms and conditions visit: http://web.ubc.ca/okanagan/provost-research/internal.html

This workshop is free, but online pre-registration is required.

Workshop details

The purpose of this workshop is to:

  • provide information about the new grant and the application process
  • provide information about the City of Kelowna’s interest in the development of sustainable neighbourhoods and communities
  • provide key points of contact within the Glenmore community and City of Kelowna staff for ongoing partnership and consultation throughout the process
  • facilitate stakeholder and community engagement and dialogue about sustainability-related research and project opportunities that may qualify for funding under this grant

  • 2:45 to 3 p.m.
    Sustainable communities discussion
    Ron Mattiussi, City Manager for the City of Kelowna

    Stakeholder and community engagement facilitated discussion
    Peter Arthur, Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Heather Hurren, Manager of Academic Development

This workshop is organized by the Sustainability Office in partnership with the Research Services Office and Centre for Teaching and Learning.
