Battery collection service available on campus

January 4, 2011

Have a collection of old cell phones or dead batteries? Dispose of them quickly and free of charge with Health, Safety and Environment’s battery collection service — a series of brown cardboard battery boxes that are available in a number of locations across campus.

The battery boxes will accept batteries and mobile phones that are no longer needed. Each battery or phone must be wrapped in one of the supplied plastic bags and placed inside the box. All batteries that weigh less than five kilograms, or 11 pounds, are accepted. Once the box is full, HSE will package the box and send for recycling.

Battery boxes can currently be found at the following locations:

  • Fipke Centre building
    First floor foyer, near Starbucks
  • Science building
First floor foyer, near the water filter
  • University Centre building
    First floor
  • Arts building
    First floor
  • Administration building
    Second floor foyer
  • Library building
    Second floor, near the washrooms

To find out more about what can be recycled visit the Health, Safety and Environment website.
