Canada Post received notice that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) intends to begin strike activities, beginning June 3.
Talks are continuing in an effort to reach a negotiated settlement to this round of labour negotiations, but in the event that a work disruption does occur Canada Post will not operate. Mail and parcels will not be delivered.
Canada Post has contingency plans in place to ensure the security of their facilities and safety of any items that remain in the mail stream during a work disruption.
In the event that there is a Canada Post labour disruption, campus mailing services will continue to operate delivering campus mail and internal communications.
Supply Management will continue to work with the UBC community and assist wherever possible with ways of transporting important documentation off-campus through alternative carriers.
