Bike to Work Week 2012

Tires of Fire bike highest total distance in Central Okanagan

Congratulations to those who participated in this year’s UBC Bike to Work Week (BTWW) activities. This year’s team — the Tires of Fire — was recognized by regional BTWW organizers for biking the highest total distance of any team in the Central Okanagan. The team’s final tally was an impressive 2,779 km.

Over 40 members of the campus community participated this year and a number of these participants were recognized for their efforts:

  • Ridiculous Relay Race winners: Brian Heichert and Ryan Pannell
  • Golden Gear winner (most kms cycled): Carrie Karsgaard, 235 kms
  • Silver Gear: Trevor Odlum, 158 kms
  • Bronze Gear: Ryan Pannell, 152 kms
  • Winner of the Bicycle Buddy draw: Tracey Hawthorn and Andrea Osachoff
  • Attendance draw: Shelby Wolfe

Prizes awarded were a mix of Choices, Tim Hortons and Fresh Air Experience gift cards. The Gear winners were awarded bicycle gear medals for their long-distance efforts.
