Here are some professional development opportunities for faculty and staff at UBC’s Okanagan campus over the next few weeks:

Getting to know lynda.com

An info session has been organized for August 21 to help get faculty and staff better acquainted with UBC’s lynda.com resources.

Lynda.com is an online collection of instructional videos designed to provide just-in-time training in a variety of areas, including software skills development, learning technology tools, and professional business practices.

BEN focus group organized for August 21

The BEN program will be re-starting in the second week of September and organizers are looking for feedback to help make the program as accommodating as possible for Okanagan campus employees.

BEN is the Behaviour modification, Exercise and Nutrition Program available to all faculty and staff. It focuses on the three components needed for healthy weight loss.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program available for faculty and staff

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week group program that focuses on cultivating mindfulness — an intentional, non-judgemental, moment-to-moment awareness of bodies, minds, and emotions.

The program begins in August and will be led by Janice Snyder, assistant professor of psychology.
