Writing and Research Centre opens September 15

September 2, 2014

UBC Okanagan’s new Writing and Research Centre (WRC) opens on September 15.

Located on the second floor of the Library, and accessed through the west entrance, the WRC will offer writing support for all UBC Okanagan undergraduate students working on class writing assignments.

The WRC’s writing consultants will assist undergraduate students with various stages of the writing process:

  • Developing a draft
  • Clarifying an argument
  • Organizing written materials
  • Understanding editing techniques and effective sentence structures
  • Building beneficial writing habits.

The WRC’s role will be to help undergraduate students communicate their ideas successfully as developing scholars.

In addition to one-on-one support, the WRC will offer workshops for undergraduate students.

Any professors who are interested in scheduling class visits or consulting about incorporating, designing, or revising writing assignments in any field or discipline, can email wrc.ok@ubc.ca or call 250-807-9185 to find out more.

The WRC will be open Mondays to Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.

WRC grand opening event

The Official Grand Opening for the WRC will take place on September 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in room LIB 237. All members of the campus community are invited.
