Opportunities abound at this year’s Career Fair
Students have the opportunity to connect with over 40 potential employers at this year’s Career Fair, being held on February 5.
Employers from Accelerate Okanagan’s high-tech industries, government, business, engineering firms, and community work will be at the event, along with career-building organizations like the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
New this year is Maximizing the Power of LinkedIn to Build Your Career (5 p.m., EME 0050), a featured presentation by Melonie Dodaro. Dodaro is founder of Top Dog Social Media and author of the international best-seller The LinkedIn Code.
Kelowna Community Resources will also be available to help students gain connections and learn about how volunteering can help provide career clarity. And for the second year, Career Fair will offer a station with industry professionals who have volunteered to help giving feedback on students’ resumes.
The Career Fair will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on February 5 in the Engineering Management Education building and is open to everyone.
How can you help?
Staff and faculty can help prepare students for this event by sending students to the Career Fair website: students.ok.ubc.ca/careers/services/events/careerfair/cfstudents
The website has good information on how students can make the best first impression, as well as what to research and consider before heading to the event.
