A group of students and staff members are organizing a series of on-campus fundraisers for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
The Relay for Life is a fundraising event that joins people together in the fight against cancer and to raise awareness across Canada. This is the second year that UBC Okanagan has organized a campus-wide fundraising effort for this cause.
The relay is an all-night walking relay being held in the Engineering Management Education building from 6 p.m. on March 28 to 6 a.m. on March 29.
This year’s relay theme is MY ONESIE THING. Teams will consist of 10 to 15 members. Various activities will be held throughout the night such as yoga, kickboxing, games, movies and live music.
The goal is for all participants to raise $100 and for the overall fundraiser to raise $30,000. To register your team or find out more, visit: www.relayforlife.ca/ubco.
To help build awareness for the relay, Facilities Management is offering by-donation golf cart rides across campus on Monday, March 9, and Friday, March 13, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Look for the marked Relay for Life golf cart that’s travelling between parking lot H and the student residences.
