Groups of female breast cancer survivors needed for study

What: ProjectMOVE information session
Who: Female breast cancer survivors who want to become more physically active
When: Tuesday, June 30, 6 to 7 p.m.
Where: Parkinson Rec Centre, Bartlett Room, Kelowna

Are you a breast cancer survivor living in the Okanagan who wants to become more physically active, or do you know someone who is? If so, researchers at UBC Okanagan’s campus want to introduce you to ProjectMOVE.

Cristina Caperchione, assistant professor with UBC’s School of Health and Exercise Sciences, has received a $199,780 Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute grant to examine how survivors become motivated to increase their physical activity. She and Postdoctoral Research Fellow Marianne Clark are now looking for participants for their research called ProjectMOVE.

ProjectMOVE provides financial support to small groups of female breast cancer survivors, between six to 10 women, who want to be physically active. An information session to explain ProjectMOVE and how to apply for the $2,000 grant, takes place Tuesday, June 30, at the Parkinson Rec Centre starting at 7 p.m.

Project leaders will be on hand to answer any questions and to provide more information about the application process. Details about the project and the information session can be found at www.projectmove.ca or contact Marianne Clark at marianne.clark@ubc.ca or 250-807-9907 for more information.
