This week, the University Relations department welcomed Matthew Grant, UBC Okanagan’s new associate director of public affairs. The associate director position is new for the University Relations department, and Grant will oversee day-to-day operations of our media relations and community engagement work.
Grant has considerable experience in media and government communications, having served as a senior communications officer with the Government of Alberta, and a communications director with the Government of Yukon.
Most recently, he was press secretary for Alberta’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Climate Change and Ministry of Health. Previously, he worked as a newspaper reporter covering political affairs and education. Grant has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and a master of journalism degree from the University of Queensland.
He will be working with faculty, students and staff on our campus, community partners throughout the region to raise the profile of our innovative research, outstanding students and teachers, our many partnerships with the community and industry, and the extraordinary learning experience we offer as UBC’s Okanagan campus.
His office is located on the third floor of the Engineering, Management and Education building (south tower) at EME 3269.
