Shawnee Harle, Canadian National Senior Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach, will deliver a Canada Basketball presentation at UBC Okanagan on Sunday, Sept. 27, designed to educate parents, coaches and players on making informed decisions regarding post-secondary basketball.
Coach Harle will discuss the benefits of — and any potential concerns about — staying in Canada to play post-secondary basketball, and will identify important questions that should be asked during the recruiting process.
“The presentation on September 27 is a great opportunity for high school student athletes in the region to learn from a nationally recognized expert about making the transition to college or university sport,” says Rob Johnson, Director of Athletics and Recreation at UBC Okanagan. “Coach Harle has experienced success at all levels while learning from some of the best coaches in Canada, and we are very pleased to welcome her to the Okanagan to share her experience with younger student athletes.”
Coach Harle has a wealth of coaching experience and technical knowledge. The Calgary, Alberta resident has translated more than two decades as a Canadian Interuniversity Sport head coach and international experience with Canada Basketball into her current role as the Director of coaching Development and as Technical Director with Basketball Alberta.
The presentation is from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Sept. 27, in ART 103 in the Arts building (1147 Research Rd.) at UBC Okanagan. The presentation is free and open to everyone.
