Faculty to consult with students, alumni and community on proposed changes to Bachelor of Management program

March 1, 2016

The Faculty of Management at UBC’s Okanagan campus is seeking input on proposed modifications to its Bachelor of Management program.

The proposed changes would involve spreading the Management program course load evenly over four years, rather than concentrating the courses in the last two years of the program. If approved, the revised program will come into effect for first-year students starting in September 2017 and thereafter. Current students will not be affected.

“The program fundamentals will remain the same, allowing students to work toward achieving a highly competitive degree,” says Faculty of Management Director Mike Chiasson. “We have heard that earlier involvement in management courses and greater depth of study would benefit students. We look forward to hearing people’s thoughts on the proposed changes.”

Consultation on the proposed changes begins March 1, including online information and in-person sessions for students.

Subject to the outcomes of the consultation, the proposed program changes will be presented to the Okanagan Senate for approval in April.
