Parking permit rate changes coming in September

April 28, 2016

Now is a good time for lot changes

On September 1, 2016, parking rates will be increasing.

Revenues from parking are one of the few areas available for revenue diversification on campus which have been mandated for UBC. They are also an important way that UBC supports alternative transportation modes.

The new rates can be found here:  parking.ok.ubc.ca/prices.

And with these increases, Parking Services reminds faculty and staff that now is a good time of year to change where you park on campus. With the reduced student population there is availability in every lot, and you can switch to a lot that better suits you.

Visit the Parking Services office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays with your existing permit to make that happen. You can change your lot until June 15, 2016. After that, Parking Services won’t be able to exchange permits again until August 2 — after which the ability to switch will be based on supply.

New permits

The current payroll permits expire at the end of October this year. All payroll deduction permit holders will be issued a replacement in October.

Most lots available after 4:30 p.m.

A reminder: With your permit you can park in any lot (excluding A, M, R) on weekdays after 4:30 p.m., and all day on weekends.

Construction impact in 2017

Next summer, the connection to UBC Okanagan from John Hindle Drive will create a west campus access point. This will affect lots G, K and C.

Those who have permits in lots G, K and C will need to be reassigned to another lot for the duration of the construction. Once Parking Services knows specifically when construction will impact these lots, they will work with those impacted to temporarily assign a new lot.
