In early April, the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) announced the accreditation of their International Students and Immigration Education Program (ISIEP) curriculum by the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

Philipp Reichert, who has been with International Programs and Services since 2012 has been appointed as an instructor for the English-language version of the program, which will be fully online and taught on evenings and weekends for learners across Canada. Reichert has been a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant since 2013 and was among the first international student advisors in Canada to become regulated.

“We are thrilled that Philipp Reichert has agreed to be our instructor for the English International Students and Immigration Education Program.” said Janine Knight-Grofe, Manager at CBIE.

“Philipp has excellent ties to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the ICCRC, as well as his colleagues in immigration advising across the country. And he is highly engaged with the CBIE. This connectedness, as well as his expertise on the topic, is exactly what we needed for this first-of-its-kind program for CBIE.”

The ISIEP will prepare International Student Advisors across Canada, as well as other professionals in the education sector in Canada who offer immigration advice to students.

The focus of the program will be the developing international advisors’ knowledge of Canadian immigration law, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPA and IRPR), and the role they play for international students.

“The program will cover the scope of immigration policies and practices pertinent to international students and will be a cornerstone professional development offering within our sector, made possible with the support of our members coast to coast,”  said Karen McBride, president and CEO of CBIE.
