Students work together to solve real-world health issues

September 21, 2016

What: UBC Okanagan Interdisciplinary Games
Who: Students from all UBC Okanagan faculties
When: Saturday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Fipke Building, 3247 University Way, UBC’s Okanagan campus

Students from all faculties at UBC’s Okanagan campus will work together in a special collaborative-learning event Saturday that simulates a real-world situation.

More than 200 students are signed up for the first Interdisciplinary Games, where teams composed of members from diverse disciplines will solve a health-related problem that mimics a real-life situation.

Experts—including faculty, physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, kinesiologists, dentists, dental hygienists, and educators—will be on-hand to provide advice and guidance to students. The event culminates with student teams presenting their solutions. Prizes will be awarded to teams that showcase the ability to work collaboratively to provide practical solutions to the proposed problems.

Complete information about the UBC Okanagan Interdisciplinary Games, including an itinerary can be found at: ikbsas.ok.ubc.ca/ubcoig
Students and experts will be available to speak to media throughout the day.
