UBC president to talk about priorities and goals for the university

October 21, 2016

UBC President Santa Ono will be speaking at two events in Kelowna next week.

What: In Conversation with UBC President Professor Santa Ono
Who: presented by alumni UBC
When: Thursday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Coast Capri Hotel, 1171 Harvey Ave., Kelowna

Professor Santa Ono, UBC’s 15th President and Vice-Chancellor, will share his early priorities and interests for the university at a special evening conversation in Kelowna next week.

Ono, who took office in August, hopes to gather input from UBC alumni and community members on how to continue to strengthen the university on both campuses. Ono is an accomplished researcher and educator, and a firm believer that dialogue is crucial for sharing ideas and bringing about transformation.

After the official program, guests are invited to network with Professor Ono and other participants at a post-event reception.

This free event is open to the public, but registration is required. For more details, contact alumni.events@ubc.ca or call 1-855-427-5767.

And Professor Ono will be the guest speaker at the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Friday, October 28—beginning at 11:45 a.m. The theme of his talk is UBC’s Contribution to the Innovation Economy.
