Two new managers have joined the Finance Operations and Strategies team who will be serving research and academic units at UBC Okanagan.
Gerald Levac, CPA, CA
Finance Manager: Vice-Principal Research Portfolio
Gerald Levac joined UBC on October 11, 2016. He arrives from StarDyne Technologies’ government and enterprise solutions division. Levac’s experience includes working on many strategic and financial initiatives, developing business case analyses and financial reporting.
Valerie Nichol, B.Comm, CPA, CMA
Finance Manager: AVP Finance and Operations (temporary)
Finance Manager: Faculty of Management, Faculty of Education, School of Engineering and College of Graduate Studies (permanent)
Since June 2016, Valerie Nichol has provided coverage for the AVP Finance and Operations portfolio during Leanne Avdich’s maternity leave. Nichol has now joined the Finance Operations team permanently as the finance manager for the Faculty of Education, College of Graduate Studies, Faculty of Management and School of Engineering. Valerie will transition into her new role over the next several months.
Previously, Nichol spent several years with Mission Group Enterprises and Big Steel Box Structures as a controller. She has significant experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analyses to a variety of stakeholders.
