Who will build the amazing future for our human race? What cool solutions will we develop next? UBC Okanagan’s School of Engineering hosts Dream Big: Engineering Our World with the aim to inspire kids to become the innovators, educators and leaders who will improve the lives of people across the entire planet.
Dream Big marks the first film for IMAX and giant-screen theatres to answer the call of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) initiative—which offers a fresh perspective on engineering and the sheer power of ideas. The award-winning filmmaking team at MacGillivary Freeman Films reveals not only the grandeur but the heart, humanity and optimism that exists in every problem-solving project—and the story-telling shows ordinary people finding ways to defy the impossible. It is narrated by Narrated by Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges.
Tickets for the May 3 Dream Big film are limited to students in Grades 7 to 10. There are two showings—7 and 8 p.m. and the film runs for 45 minutes. There is no fee for a ticket, but advanced registration at dreambigengineering.eventbrite.ca is required to ensure a seat. Drop-ins are welcome, space permitting.
