What: UBC Okanagan Homecoming
Who: UBC Okanagan graduates, students, faculty, staff and the local community
When: Numerous events on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20
Where: Various locations on the university campus and across Kelowna
With UBC Okanagan reaching several key milestones in recent years—marking 10 years of academic excellence and having a student population of 10,000—it’s time to celebrate.
UBC Okanagan is hosting Homecoming, inviting alumni and the community to campus to see what’s changed, meet up with friends and share stories of the early days. It’s a weekend full of signature events including a kick-off breakfast, chemistry demonstrations, engineering extravaganza, a soccer game between rivals the UBC Thunderbirds and the UBC Okanagan Heat, a scavenger hunt and many more events.
Friday wraps up with Streetfest—including music by award-winning country artist Ben Klick, carnival games, food trucks and a beer garden.
Homecoming concludes Saturday evening with Nourish, a harvest reception featuring more than 20 tasting stations from Okanagan restauranteurs, winemakers, craft brewers and cider producers. Nourish begins with a talk by Canadian Olympic champion Jon Montgomery, famous for his ‘beer walk’ in Whistler after his gold-medal win.
Montgomery is host of The Amazing Race Canada. He will share the story of his Olympic journey and discuss the lessons he learned about teamwork, leadership and dreaming big.
Tickets for Nourish are $50 and available at: events.eply.com/UBCOHomecoming20182497401
