Tirso Gonzales, Assistant Professor of Indigenous Studies, is one of three international guests who have been invited to speak at the sixth annual Corn Fair being held in Carichí, located in the Mexican State of Chihuahua.
Taking place in early December, the annual Corn Fair is a celebration of the traditional corn that nourishes the local cultures and livelihoods of the surrounding areas.
Gonzales will be speaking at the festival on indigenous local agricultures, focusing on community-based regeneration. The World Wildlife Fund – Mexico and The Christensen Fund support Gonzales’ participation.
He will be accompanied at the fair by Paola de Santis, Research Assistant from Bioversity International, and Suzanne Nelson, Director of Conservation for Native Seeds/Southwestern Endangered Aridland Resource Clearing House.
