Silent retreat organized for Aug. 29
As part of smartUBC’s ongoing health and wellness initiative, a four-hour silent retreat led by Karma Yeshe Rabgye is being hosted on campus on August 29.
This retreat is open to all staff, faculty and students.
Karma Yeshe Rabgye is a western monk in the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Originally from England, he now lives in the Ashoka Buddhist Temple in northern India where he teaches Buddhism and meditation classes to people of all ages.
Participants of the silent retreat will be encouraged to develop sustainable daily mindful habits with the goal to improve personal, emotional, mental and physical health.

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Room EME 1123
Cost: $20 donation, proceeds to go to Rabgye's hospice in India

This event is partially subsidized by Human Resources, but $20 donations are being asked for participation in the retreat. All proceeds will go to Rabgye's hospice in India. Please bring your own snacks, lunches and beverages to this event.
smartUBC (Stress Management and Resiliency Techniques) is a mindfulness-based professional development initiative which includes courses in education, health and nursing.
