Half-way there for the United Way Campaign

November 3, 2015

The University Relations team wears red to support the 2015 United Way campaign at the annual Walk-Through Breakfast.

As of last week, the Okanagan campus United Way campaign had raised $19,906, and the contributions are still coming in. November promises to be another fun campaign month with two exciting events on campus.

Students, staff, and faculty members across the UBC Okanagan and Vancouver campuses are encouraged to wear red on November 17 to show support for the United Way.

The Vancouver and Okanagan campuses are collaborating for the first time on the November initiative to raise awareness and understanding of the United Way. As an added incentive, those wearing red can enter for a chance to win prizes — including a pair of tickets to a future Vancouver White Caps game — by posting a photo with the hashtag #UBCUnited, and answering the question: what does community mean to me?

A winner will be selected from each campus.

The month concludes with the United Way Bake Sale and More on November 26. The organizers are looking for savory or sweet donations for this event.

Sign up at unitedway.ok.ubc.ca/bake-sale, or contact rosemary.thompson@ubc.ca for more information.
