What: Social Anxiety Group Treatment Program
Who: UBC Okanagan Interprofessional Clinic
When: Weekly, mid-October to late November
Where: UBC’s Okanagan campus

Do you get nervous when confronted with social situations? Are your activities limited by your fear of being around other people? Does worrying about being judged keep you from doing the things that you want?

You are not alone. UBC researchers say it’s common for people to suffer from social anxiety. But there is help. The UBC Okanagan Interprofessional Clinic is offering a seven-week Social Anxiety Group Treatment Program and is looking for participants.

Group treatment is directed for those who experience intense anxiety in social situations, struggle when interacting with others, worry about being judged or try to avoid social situations at all costs. There are morning and afternoon group sessions available, running from mid-October to the end of November.

Group therapy is considered one of the most effective ways to treat social anxiety. Cognitive-behavioural techniques will be used to teach skills and reduced symptoms of social anxiety. Cost for the treatment is $70. For more information about the program, or to register, please call 250-807-8241 or email ipc.ok@ubc.ca.
